Top 10 Things to do while at Pacific Beach
The following list is a compilation of some of our
favorite activities and places to visit on or near Pacific Beach. Please
remember that this is only a small sample of many of the activities or points
of interest that may be personally captivating here on our North Coast. If you
know of any yourselves that are not listed, please by all means, let us know.
Also remember to take your cameras along!
-
Spend time on the Beach: Now isn’t this why you came out to Pacific
Beach in the first place? Washington Beaches are some of the largest and
longest beaches in the world. Take a long stroll and see how far you can go
before you have to head back. It is not unusual for one to see absolutely no
other person during their walk--only flocks of sandpipers or even an eagle
or two. Do some beachcombing along the shores. Pick up seashells and build a
sand castle. Make drift wood campfire. Enjoy the fresh ocean air.
-
Explore the area: You brought your car didn’t you? Well, use it. Go
visit the gorgeous, spectacular areas north of Pacific Beach. The new
Moclips highway completed just last year now make the trips to beaches north
of Quinault Indian Reservation much more accessible. Hike the world famous
Hoh Rain
forest, and walk the incredible Kalaloch beaches including the
picturesque Ruby Beach. And, of course, the
Cullens (vampire family from the movie, Twilight) of
Forks, WA are 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from here. Please avoid getting bit.
I would also ask the Quinault Native Americans if
there were any werewolves around when you visit.

-
Cruise along the beach in your car: Where else in the world is it safe
and leagl to do this? Our beaches are considered a state highway and are
perfectly legal to cruise next to the ocean. It's an experience. Head to Moclips (about 2 miles
north on Hwy 109), go straight through to the beach and take a left. Now
turn on your Mozart CD, open the car windows and slowly cruise the beach
about 1.4 miles. There is a turn off onto a paved road at the end. Go up the
hill and take a right. You are now back on Pacific Beach.
- Go
Horseback Riding on the Beach: There are numerous places to rent a
horse. For a listing please ask the manager.
- Go
Fly a Kite: Pacific Beach is one of the best places in the world to fly
a kite due to its prevailing winds. Scott at Hi-Flyers Kite in Pacific Beach
is a fun person to talk to about anything and everything related to Kites.
Come back to Pacific Beach on its annual Kite Festival
and see hundreds of kites of all kinds and sizes literally litter the sky.
It is truly an awesome display. Talk to Scott for more information.
- Go
fishing: Pacific Beach is a destination spot for many people who enjoys
fishing. John, our manager, is an avid fisherman who has a great deals of
information and tips. There are also numerous guide services available to
make a memorable fishing adventure.
- Visit Taholah Indian Nation: Go north on Hwy 109 for another 10 miles or
so until the road ends (there are many wonderful views on this road). Then take a left. Taholah also has one of
the most scenic beaches. To get there, take the first right at the stop
sign, go one block then head towards the beach. There is a rather cool man
made spit made of rocks and large driftwood. You can walk around it or over
it but be careful not to slip on the rocks or driftwood. The ocean waves
truly crash right at your feet here.
Awesome!!
-
Visit
Ocean Shores: Sure the areas is not known for its beauty but this
resort town has many fun activities that kids particularly love. There is a
golf course, movie theatre, putt putt course, many excellent restaurants, go
cart tracks, scooter rentals, and much more… Go south on Hwy 109 for about
20 minutes.
-
Build a Campfire and Watch the
Sunset:
Collect drift woods and build a fire near sunset and cuddle with the loved
ones. Please ask if we have any portable fireplaces available at the time of
your visit.
- Go
worship at Chapel By the Sea: Visit this quaint little church and
worship with long time residents of Washington’s North Coast and inquire
about its long and interesting history. It is about a mile north on Hwy 109.
* If all
else fails and you simply want to rest, we have a collection of the top
100 movies in history (as determined rather
arbitrarily by the American Film Institute). The rental is free! Please
rewind it prior to returning them. For those less lofty, both convenience
stores in town have more recent movie releases.
